What this will not do
- Germination-test old seed before you count on it. Ten seeds on a damp paper towel for a week tells you the real number, and seed you saved yourself is an unknown until you do.
- Spacing on a packet is usually the minimum. Crowded plants in a dry year do worse than fewer plants watered well.
